.......................................................................................

The following is a partial list of IC UC products:

  • A software development process that will simplify, reduce cost and time required, and facilitate teamwork during the workflow life cycle of a software project. The overall concept has been developed but needs to be tested.
  • A pill dispenser that dispenses one pill at a time regardless of the shape and size of the pill, hence the name "Universal-Pill dispenser". Most of the development stages have been completed successfully and product commercialization is on the horizon. The following paragraphs explain this product in more details.

The Universal-Pill dispenser is the first IC UC product offering. It is both unique and simple in the way that it works (the solution). Through its unique design and functionality the dispenser enables a user to easily obtain a single pill or capsule. The dispenser works with all shapes and sizes of pills. It is easily operated by the elderly and the physically challenged. The concept (solution) is simple and therefore feasible to manufacture at a low cost. In addition, it offers safety features not available in current products.

The unique competitive advantages of the Universal-Pill dispenser can be summarized in the following five points:

¨ It is a dispenser and not only a container.

¨ It works for all pills regardless of the size and shape of the pill. This is important because the mold does not need to be changed if a company decides to change its pills or introduce a new one. This is a considerable long-term gain because molds are very expensive.

¨ The concept is simple and therefore it is feasible to manufacture at a low cost.

¨ It is easy to use yet child-resistant. Some of the designs eliminate the compromising act that must be balanced between ease of use vs. childproof.

¨ Some of the designs take the childproof concept to a more abstract level by eliminating the need to open the cap altogether. In other words, a child does not have access to all pills at once given that he/she could beat the child-resistant (CR) mechanism.

The following table summarizes the differences between the Universal-Pill dispenser and the other competing products in terms of features and advantages:
